I've been soaking up all the baby snuggles with our new little guy, and it's brought back a lot of memories from when our first was born - so here's the story behind our baby stationery that I originally designed for our oldest son!

When we were pregnant with our first, I knew I wanted to design baby shower invitations and stationery that would feel special for our baby. My husband wanted to find out if we were having a boy or a girl, but we wouldn't know what we were having until pretty close to the time when I would have to be finalizing a design to get things printed. So instead of designing something gender specific, I created a design that was more gender neutral with flowers, bows, and baby toys like teddy bears, rocking horses, and alphabet blocks. I painted everything monochromatic so that I could easily change colors later when editing files in photoshop - that way we could have blue for a boy and pink or purple for a girl. We ended up with a boy and a very, very blue baby shower, which was just perfect for our little guy!

With baby number two, we decided not to find out baby's gender (we ended up with another boy!) so choosing a gender neutral color meant this was still the perfect stationery.

This has been one of our most popular products of all time, which feels so special to me because I designed it for my babies. I now offer eight different colors, so these cards are perfect for any baby shower theme!

Creating patterns from my paintings to use in my stationery designs is one of the things I find the most fun about what I do. These are just a few of my favorite types of patterns - you'll see these over and over again in my designs!

I’ve been consciously trying to post more consistently on social media lately, and I figure it’s about time I do a new introduction post! So here’s a little about me for those who don’t know me yet:

My name is Shelby, and I’m a Catholic wife, mama to two sweet boys, and a watercolor artist in my free time. I’m a registered nurse but I’m currently loving pursuing my creative business dreams! I live in rural Michigan, and I love the outdoors, reading, and drinking tea.

I started this business in 2022 when I decided (with my husband’s help and encouragement) to try turning some of my paintings into greeting cards. I’ve discovered a love of not just painting, but designing entire collections of personalized stationery as well.

My business is a lot more than just a hobby, but I also don’t get to have full working days. I run my business during naps and after bedtime, and in the rare moments when my toddler entertains himself. I’m just a team of one (with a TON of support from my amazing husband). Sometimes it’s challenging, but I feel like I get the best of both worlds by being a full time mom and having the fulfillment of using my creativity to make fun products and run a business.

I’m so pleased you’re here following along!

Baby number two made his arrival over the weekend! We're still processing and fulfilling orders, but taking a little step back from some of the busy work while we get settled in as a family of four. So thankful to God for giving us these sweet little ones - the very best things we have ever made 🩵

Here's my final take on envelope upgrades:

Return address printing is definitely worth it when you have a lot of cards to send!

Euro flap envelopes are the most affordable upgrade - great for when you want to splurge just a little. Envelope liners get pricey quickly, so I would save them for a special event. If you want the high end look, I'd choose between euro flap envelopes and envelope liners, but probably not do both, unless it's a formal event with a bigger budget!

At the end of the day, you have to do what works for your needs and budget. Adding upgrades is fun, but simple envelopes work just as well as fancy ones at getting your mail where it needs to go!

A lot of my best selling products over the years came to be because I had ideas I wanted to use for myself or I had someone I know ask for them. If you create art that you want in your own space, chances are, someone else is interested in it too! Here are some of the stories behind a few of my best sellers.

Today I want to share a little about envelope liners! I offer envelope liners as an upgrade because I do have customers ask for them from time to time, but they are pricey and are the most likely to give people sticker shock (sorry, but they do cost a lot!)

An envelope liner is an additional piece of paper that's usually printed with a pattern or design to coordinate with your stationery, which is then glued into your envelopes.

Historically, envelope liners were used to provide extra padding for the mail inside the envelope and prevent anyone from seeing through the envelope. Now they're mostly used to make your envelopes look pretty and match your stationery!

Envelope liners cost quite a bit because they require an additional piece of paper to be printed on, cut to size, and then glued into each individual envelope. Adding envelope liners to euro flap envelopes is especially expensive because the elongated point on the envelope means a bigger sheet of paper has to be used and then cut into a specialty shape.

If you have the budget for it, adding envelope liners can make your stationery feel extra special! Personally though, I would save these for special occasions only, or for a time when you want to splurge on something special, not for everyday!
