Reclaiming and repurposing solid wood to build our cajons and hand percussion has been foundational since we began. Old furniture, church pews, shelving, pianos, and other finds from curb to demo to donated, yield wonderful old wood. Uncovering the beauty and quality remains a delight. Our instruments have stories.

Over the years a big hit at the ODP booth is our Make-a-Shake. We build the classic shaker shells from a variety of reclaimed woods and the musician fills it with assorted steel shot for that personally perfect shaker sound and weight. The plant has been working overtime getting ready for the Rebeats Chicago Drum Show May 18-19.

Rainstick day! With 30 days until the Chicago Drum Show, the ODP building is ramping up. Our version of a rainstick has an interior that looks like a death stick. Doubles as a two- armed mega shaker when you just gotta be heard.

Sound Adventure! Exploring music, rhythm, and percussion building at Great River Charter Montessori School. What fun spending an interactive day with teacher Mary Sollitto and 30 students in the Blue Earth class. Our musical explorations included the ODP classic Make-A-Shake. Play on young music makers!

What a remarkable thing to see a small business idea become real and grow up. For over a decade, from a home based headquarters, we have been creating hand percussion from reclaimed solid wood and sending our instruments out near and far to make joyful sounds.

From a cramped beginning garage space to a solid wood shop, our building methods and products have evolved over the years, but we are still focused on offering amazing instruments that make players from new to pro love to play. Whether the goal was a gig or gift or just to play for fun, we are grateful for all the love, support, and business that ODP has received from so many across the country.
