Some good stuff in today… Got a deal with GraphTech to pay shipping & tariffs on an order so we invested. Parker piezos & Ghost Advanced Acousti-Phonic systems. From DiMarzio, 4 sets of Gen 2 pickups and more Flippin stickers. We include one with every part order and guitar off the bench. To date we’ve handed out over 6,000 in 13 years.

2 of 2 for Jason - a tag along with the Parker P-38 / only the bridge was working. A couple of go-rounds to get it repaired. No wires broken, re-flowed the signal connections on the switch. No success and replaced the switch, still no success... Originally all the grounds were bundled together and soldered to the switch in a big hunk of solder. Third round I completely pulled all the pickup leads off and remade the ends testing each one. Tied the grounds in a different way to the volume pot and it was fine.

1 of 2 for Jason (the 2nd not a Parker but will be on our FB page). Just setup / intonation and a check-up. We found loose pots, jack and a missing white nylon tuner bushing. All corrected, pots cleaned then setup. Straightforward work.

Not many pics… Jimmy’s refined Fly has been hanging on the wall for a couple of decades. He bought it with the serious fretting out issue. The problem was the fretboard lifting off the neck on the treble side from #19 to the end. Clamped up and glued and all squeeze out removed. To our dismay, overnight some epoxy still leaked out and got on the finish. Acetone gets epoxy off but it seems either the epoxy or acetone leached under the finish and distorted the paint in a small area 😭. No charge on this one but it does now play like a Parker / super low action & pots cleaned.

Our pre-refined repair jig (last pic) now resides with our amp guy to fix boards. Much easier just to ship him the board with a return label. I used 2 old flex cables, some resistors to mimic pots and some jumpers to set volumes full, mono out, wired for both pickups. Easy tool to see if if a board is functional… I’ll draw it up for any techs out there who may want to build one.

We have a Fly that has “some” issue. Works here so I need a local who wants to noodle around on it to see if the failure can appear… I don’t play, lol.

You may remember that a while back we installed a Sustainiac in a pre-refined Fly for Tom. He asked if we could straighten out another that was poorly done by another tech. Bad solders, mis-wired, neck pickup didn’t work (humbucker on 100% regardless of switch position). Piezo worked but volume pot would not turn down. I sketched up the existing Sustainiac wiring as a reference and started stripping it all out. Rebuilt the mag section adding a push-pull to the tone to split-coil the bridge. Re-wired the Sustainiac in and added a push-pull pot there where the on/off switch was. Now it has a sustainer drive pot and push-pull for on/off. That’s when I discovered the neck problem. PC board back out and did troubleshooting x3 - frustration. I tagged in a new sustainer and still had the issue. A new board fixed the problem. The Piezo system was an LR Baggs unit where the volume pot had been removed from the board and remotely mounted. Several emails back and forth with our Baggs tech rep and the pot used was entirely wrong, should have been a “dual gang” of a different value. A Fishman PowerChip was installed. Lots of other little things fixed, too numerous to detail out. Neck had been previously glued by others…
