Fishing has been demanding at times recently in the Hayward area. Ultra low, ultra clear water has made for some challenging, but not impossible, bass fishing. The fun of locating a fish and presenting to it is something we’re enjoying more of these days!

Rivers are as low as any of us have seen them. Current CFS flow rates for the Hayward area rivers are as follows…

Namekagon: 46 CFS
St. Croix: 423 CFS
Flambeau: 571 CFS
Chippewa (Bishop’s Bridge): 199

Also, the AC went out at the fly shop and is being replaced today. Please bear with us if you’re coming to the shop - we’ll have it cooled back down by tomorrow!

Guides’ day off is a sacred and wonderful thing. These guys all work so hard, and days like these keep us doing our best work for our customers throughout the season. Looking forward to many more days on the water - both work and play - with our excellent shop crew!

Musky Fest is happening in downtown Hayward, and Wild Rivers Conservancy and St. Croix National Scenic Riverway are here at the fly shop Friday and Saturday with EDDY, the new super cool NPS visitor education van! Stop by and learn a thing or two about our local wild and scenic Riverway!
