Wednesday! Celebrate freedom of speech with us!

For this year’s Banned Books Week, we’ve partnered with Silent Book Club and Libro.fm for a Banned Book Read-In:
from 3-5pm, bring your own favorite challenged book or pick one from our selection, and read in good company. For all ages!

Libro.fm is offering two free audiobooks for attendees, and in-store purchases that include a banned book during the event are 26% off!

Then, we’re open extra innings for Hayward Herald’s open house: 7-8:30pm, come meet the folks behind our local journalism, and let them know what you’d like to see covered!

We’ll have cold drinks and will save you a seat— see you at the shop, B-lievers!💛

donate $9 or more to our ongoing Paul Dulberg Fund, to give books to those in need in our community, and we’ll apply a 25% discount on your online and in-store purchases.

(Sorry, not on gift cards, but pre-orders, a jumpstart on the holidays, or something for a classroom or school library, mayhaps?)

It’s time for this year’s Children’s Book Festival at in Oakland,
and the lineup is STELLAR:
We’re over the moon to be the bookseller for the likes of , , , , and yes, himself!!!

Tickets are available at the door or at Fairyland’s bio;
make lifetime memories with your kiddos to show them how creative humans make art and happiness for each other.
This event heals your heart; I know it does mine.

The shop will be closed this one Saturday; we’ll return with so many stories and BOOKS for you on Tuesday.

Come and be in community with a great group of folks like yourself, led this month by Hayward’s own Jesse Gunn, HUSD teacher, civic leader, and author of ‘The Fabric of Oblivion’— on sale at the shop!

Jesse’s life experience and neurodivergence have shaped his moving poetry and prose;
come sign up and share your own short work, or to listen and enjoy being together as friendly humans.

We’re open for shopping as well until our 7pm close.

This will be a great opportunity to connect with other creatives—

Join us to celebrate Hawaiian History Month with acclaimed author Sara Kehaulani Goo, in conversation with our beloved Kumu Deanie Lum-Villiados of Kaulana Na Pua ‘O Hawai’i.

‘Kuleana: A Story of Family, Land, and Legacy in Old Hawai’i’ is the story of award-winning journalist Sara’s effort to hold on to her family’s ancestral Hawaiian lands—and finds herself along the way.
Her journey is one you’ll want to walk with, and this event is not to be missed.

🌺Live performance and music from the hālau will bless and begin our event at 6pm— free and no RSVP.
