Small forms, repeated.
Naomi Mcintosh trained as an architect in London. Her wall pieces have a lyrical beauty born of precision and placement: hundreds of thin ash rings on steel, each turned at a slightly different angle, moving like wind through grass as their shadows shift.
Karola Torkos, a German jeweler trained at the Royal College of Art, builds changeable jewelry by hand in silver, gold, gold-plated and oxidized metals, Ceramit enamel and recycled plastic. She cuts small circles, arcs and segments and links them into forms the wearer can rearrange, taking over, in her words, “the last step in the design process.”
One works on the wall, one on the body. Both show how much a single repeated form can hold.
