⭐About this lecture:
Critical incidents in veterinary practice - unexpected patient outcomes, client complaints, or workplace events - can be emotionally and professionally destabilizing for the entire team. This one-hour webinar equips veterinary team members with practical, evidence-informed debriefing skills to promote psychological safety, improve team performance, and support resilience after adverse events. Participants will learn the purpose and stages of effective hot debriefs, how to create a structured but compassionate environment, and communication techniques for eliciting accurate observations without assigning blame. The session covers brief, reproducible frameworks for facilitating rapid team reflection, strategies for managing strong emotions, and techniques to identify system-level learning points and follow-up actions. Practical components include example scenarios, checklists for running concise post-incident huddles and debriefs, and guidance on when to escalate. By the end of the webinar, attendees will be able to lead a focused debrief, document outcomes and action items, and foster a culture that balances learning with psychological support. This session is designed for individuals seeking to improve team communication, patient safety, and wellbeing in fast-paced clinical environments.
