Earlier this week, Tennessee Agricultural Commissioner Andy Holt and Tennessee State Representative Rick Scarborough toured the farm. Also on the tour were several Tennessee agricultural consultants and local 4H and County Extension agents.
Matt Smith and I discussed the origin, goals, and day-to-day operations of the farm. Matt demonstrated jobs related to caring for the trees, including shearing them. Commissioner Holt volunteered to shear one. It looked so good he will be returning to the farm in November to claim it as his personal Christmas tree.

We will be open to the public from 8 am to 8 pm beginning the Thursday before Thanksgiving..

A recent chance encounter with a Bluebird customer gave me a new term. The lady said, “I will see you in November because I’m a Christmas Mom”. For clarification, she explained that she goes all out decorating for Christmas because she sees her home as a place where Christmas memories are made. Kids, grandkids, neighbors, and friends see her home as a stage where the Christmas spirit is on full display.
It turns out, I know a lot of Christmas Moms.

I'm a fan of Cinco Christmas tree stands. For years I assumed they were manufactured in China, along with all fake trees. Imagine my surprise when I discovered they are made in the USA. In fact, they are manufactured in my hometown of Pasadena, Texas! While visiting cousins there this spring, we drove by and took a picture.
Now you know how Christmas nerds spend their vacations.

As of Wednesday, December 3, we still have hundreds of beautiful trees in the field and hundreds of equally beautiful precut fraser firs and Douglas firs. Our supply off wreaths, garland, mistletoe, local jams, honey, ornaments, handmade crafts, and more is still very good. Our staff will help you find what you need to make your home the perfect setting for holiday memories.

The Stewart family has been coming to our farm for 6 years. They have a social media channel that recently collaborated with The National Real Christmas Tree Board to produce the attached reel. The gift shop at Bluebird carries local gifts such as honeys (3 kinds), jams (15 kinds), butters (4 kinds), molasses, ornaments, bows, tree stands, wreaths, caps, shirts and more. Many families purchase their favorite jams, local honeys or ornaments here and then return later after realizing these items, (mostly $6 to $8) are terrific gifts for friends, relatives, neighbors, Sunday school teachers, etc. Remember gifts when you visit the gift shop.
