On 10 October 2026, people around the world will come together to celebrate migratory birds and the many ways we can help conserve them. This year's theme, " – Your Observations Matter!", highlights the vital role of community and citizen science in migratory bird conservation.

There's still time to plan how you'll take part! Whether it's hosting a bird walk, organizing an educational event, joining a local bird count, or simply spending an afternoon observing the birds in your area — every action, however small, helps build the knowledge needed to conserve migratory birds across the world's flyways.

Don't forget to register your event on our global map, so others can discover it and join in the celebration! 🗺️

🐦 ARTIST SPOTLIGHT: CATHY WEBER 🐦

We’re pretty smitten with these beautiful ceramic birds by Montana artist Cathy Weber!

Each bird is individually handmade, so no two are exactly alike. Cathy’s porcelain birds come in a wonderful variety of colors and forms, with some featuring beautifully carved details and others finished with smooth, colorful glazes.

Cathy has been creating her ceramic birds since 2007, and her work has found its way into galleries, homes, gardens and museum installations throughout Montana. She creates her work in her studio in historic downtown Dillon and we’re lucky to have her birds right here at Birds & Beasleys in Helena!

Rock the Block returns for it's second year. This time, better than ever because it's FREE.

This year's theme is Harvest and Handmade: local artists selling handmade work, fall games, a bucket raffle, food trucks, live music from Helena musicians, and hands-on art activities where you'll leave with something you made yourself.

FREE and open to the public. Every artist keeps 100% of what they sell and proceeds from activities and donations support the Holter's General Fund and our capital campaign, "Raise the Roof; Protect the Art".

Pair your visit with Adel Sheep Shearing, Sieben Live Stock Company by J.M. Cooper, opening September 11 inside the museum.
