I really have been wood working even though I haven’t been posting much. Nearly all my effort and free time have been going towards opening and it’s been a long road. Give us a follow and see all the wood work I’ve done! I’ve build live oak live edge tables from one tree, a reclaimed fence wall, 22 linear feet of base cabinets, cubbies, and countertops! I haven’t posted in a while. I took some time this holiday season to spend time with friends and family. I haven’t done that in over a decade. I need to do that more often. The holidays were still busy. Shop time was limited but I did make a lot of these bottle openers. If you’re interested in one, let me know. I’ll sell them for $10 each. They’re about 2 1/2” in diameter and an inch thick. Walnut or cherry. Happy new years to all and let’s make 2023 a good one!

There’s 2 things I’m happy about in this photo. First, I’m almost done with sanding the chair inserts. Second, I’m done with the 3M Xtract sandpaper. I know people like it. It’s not for me. I’ll be sticking with the Festool granat.

I didn’t intend on polishing my table saw cast iron top today, but here I am. I had brought some pecan slabs in a week or so ago to acclimate and I guess one had water on it. Left a pretty nasty rust spot (3 actually) on the cast iron. I’m not the type that obsesses over my tools being perfectly clean but I’m also not abusive of my equipment either. This took me an hour to fix and it still isn’t perfect. I suppose I’ll have to see the scars of my choices every time I use the table saw. Cleaned with and polished with

Just because I’d hate to not be part of the latest internet trend, I made smoked shotgun shells. They’re tasty but a fair bit of work to put together and basically taste like a ground beef hotdog wrapped in bacon. It wasn’t bad and I’ll likely make them again at some point in the future.

Doing a “quick” laser burn for my daughter’s Scout Troop. They need a board to display the names of those who have earned the rank of Eagle. This should have been a quick project but I keep getting distracted, then I forgot about it, then I got too busy with other things. So here we are, weeks later, trying to finish this up to honor those who have put in the work to to earn scouting’s top honor. Only about 7 more hours and it’ll be done….
