Over 30 years ago, Sam Neill walked with dinosaurs. All of us watching Jurassic Park that summer of 1993 were as stunned as Neill’s Dr. Alan Grant to see those ancient creatures imbued with life on screen. The performances from Neill and his castmates helped ILM’s visual effects feel grounded and believable. Over the decades, we’ve been fortunate to work on a number of films that featured Sam Neill’s masterful acting, from The Hunt for Red October and Memoirs of an Invisible Man to Thor: Ragnarok and Jurassic World: Dominion. We join the worldwide filmmaking community in mourning his loss and celebrating his beautiful contributions to the art form.
