Dear Hershey Pharmacy Friends, Family, and Valued Customers,
It is with heavy hearts and deep regret that we announce the immediate closing of Hershey Pharmacy & Gift Shop.
For almost four decades, our family has had the privilege of providing healthcare, support, and a personal touch that we hope has made a difference in your lives. We've watched families grow, children become adults, and generations of trust form over the years. The bonds we’ve shared with you have meant the world to us and have always been our reason for moving forward. The reality is that the current state of Community Pharmacy is no longer profitable, and we cannot continue serving our community in the way we desire.
Our mission has been simple: to offer not only prescriptions, but a place where you could find compassionate care and understanding. Whether you came to us to fill a prescription, choose a gift for a loved one, or just to share a kind word. It was an honor every day to be a small part of your lives.
In recent years, thousands of pharmacies of all shapes and sizes have closed at an alarming rate across the country. It is a troubling trend, and the impact of predatory pharmacy benefit managers cannot be overstated. Some prescriptions that we fill for our regular customers cost us hundreds of dollars out of our pocket to continue to fill, and we have no reasonable way to account for this type of economic loss. We love community pharmacy and hope for positive change in the future, but for now, we will focus on our long-term care pharmacies serving nursing homes and assisted living facilities throughout the region. We will continue to offer vaccine services through our long-term care locations and look for ways that we can help keep our friends and neighbors healthy.
Hershey is a remarkable community and to be a part of it is truly special. As we close our doors, we want to express our deepest gratitude to each and every one of you for your loyalty and trust. We’ve considered you not just customers, but an extension of our own family. We will forever cherish the memories we have made together and are deeply grateful for the support that you have shown us over the years.
We also greatly appreciated the dedication of Mark, Victoria and our entire staff. They are equally heartbroken with this closing. Our phones will be staffed to assist you with the transfer of your active prescriptions to the pharmacy of your choice and help with transitions or questions you may have. Please don’t hesitate to reach out.
Thank you once again for allowing us the privilege of serving you. It has been an incredible journey, and we will always carry the memories of our time together with love and appreciation.
