This is my art therapy internship site and it's an AMAZING organization doing AMAZING things for those who have been exploited! Please consider donating to a great cause ❤️❤️❤️
By now I'm sure you've all seen posts about the record number of animals in shelters. And yes, by all means, please adopt, foster, and donate.
Here's a harder story to tell:
There are record numbers of survivors of child abuse, s*xual assault, domestic violence, and human trafficking emerging from the isolation of the pandemic. We can't show you their pictures out of respect for their privacy and safety. We can't tell you their stories because they aren't ours to tell. But I see and hear them every day in my office. Every. Day.
What I can tell you is this:
The need for Fresh Start bags is huge. The need for emergency shelter is huge. The need for grocery and gas cards is huge. The need for funds to support advocacy and education is huge.
And giving is down.
It's hard to tell a story that accurately portrays the need without exploiting the people we are trying to help- and I refuse to do that. My hope is that enough people trust the work we're doing at ICT S.O.S. to know that we are doing it with dignity and grace for the people we serve, and a whole lot of grit from my team.
