Infinity Gaming
National Edison Day — May 29, 2026

National Edison Day celebrates Thomas Edison, invention, electricity, persistence, and the kind of idea that starts with “what if” and ends with someone yelling, “It works!” Gaming is built on that same spirit. Every console, controller, arcade cabinet, cartridge, disc, headset, save file, glowing keyboard, and questionable late-night strategy was born from somebody trying to make technology do something more exciting than sit quietly in a corner. At Infinity Gaming, that history matters because video games are invention you can actually play.

Marty McDaniel, the Gold King, knows inventions come in many forms. He buys gold, silver, jewelry, coins, antiques, militaria, vintage toys, advertising, and all kinds of collectibles for cash on the spot. If Edison had wandered into Gold King with a box of old experimental parts, Marty would have looked through it carefully, made a fair offer on anything collectible, and then asked why one of the wires was smoking. That is the kind of practical curiosity that works in both treasure hunting and gaming. You do not always know what something is worth until somebody who knows the field takes a look.

National Edison Day fits Infinity Gaming because gaming has always been powered by bright ideas. Arcades turned electricity into competition. Home consoles turned living rooms into worlds. Handheld systems turned car rides into boss fights. Retro games turned simple pixels into permanent memories. Modern gaming turns light, sound, code, art, and input into experiences that can be funny, emotional, competitive, or completely chaotic. Every time a controller lights up, there is a little Edison energy in the room, minus the laboratory coat and the risk of accidentally inventing homework.

Gamers also understand trial and error. Edison is often remembered for persistence, and gamers live that every day. Miss the jump? Try again. Lose the boss fight? Try again. Pick the wrong dialogue option and accidentally insult a space emperor? Try again, or live with it and call it roleplay. Gaming teaches experimentation, pattern recognition, timing, patience, and sometimes the humility to admit that yes, the tutorial was right and you should have listened.

Infinity Gaming celebrates the players, collectors, and fans who keep gaming culture alive. Retro consoles, vintage games, controllers, cartridges, discs, and gaming memorabilia all carry nostalgia and value. Marty’s world of buying vintage toys and collectibles overlaps naturally with gaming because yesterday’s entertainment often becomes tomorrow’s collectible. That old console in the closet may not power a city, but it can still light up somebody’s face.

Today’s horoscope for gamers: Aries should stop rushing the boss door and check inventory first. Ta**us needs a cozy game and a snack before making any major decisions. Gemini should not start three games at once, but will absolutely do it anyway. Cancer should revisit an old favorite and call it emotional maintenance. Leo is ready for multiplayer glory, provided the lobby appreciates their entrance. Virgo should organize the game shelf and pretend it was not deeply satisfying. Libra needs a co-op partner who actually shares loot. Scorpio is about to discover a hidden ending or at least act like they knew it was there. Sagittarius should try a new genre and blame curiosity if it gets expensive. Capricorn can finish the backlog, but only by admitting the backlog has become a second career. Aquarius should experiment with weird builds. Pisces should pick the game with the best music and disappear into it happily.

On National Edison Day, Infinity Gaming salutes the inventors, players, collectors, and button-mashers who keep the lights on in gaming culture. Whether you are chasing high scores, replaying classics, collecting vintage games, or explaining to your family that “just one more match” is a flexible scientific concept, today is for bright ideas. And if Marty walks in holding an old controller like it is a rare artifact, do not laugh too hard. The Gold King knows treasure when he sees it.

Celebrate National Edison Day with Infinity Gaming, where bright ideas, retro memories, and gaming culture stay powered up in Hickory.

Slugs Return From Capistrano Day — May 28, 2026

Slugs Return From Capistrano Day may sound like somebody spilled a nature documentary into a calendar, but for gamers, it makes perfect sense. Every game has a slug moment. It is the slow walk across an oversized map. The underpowered starter character. The grinding session that feels like it was designed by someone who hates joy. The es**rt mission where the NPC moves like they are carrying a refrigerator. The boss fight where progress is measured in tiny, stubborn inches.

That is why this odd little holiday belongs at Infinity Gaming. Gaming is not always about speedruns, perfect combos, and instant wins. Sometimes it is about slow progress that still counts. It is about the player who keeps coming back after losing. It is about leveling up one match, one pull, one quest, one trade, one card, one checkpoint, or one tiny improvement at a time. Slug speed is still speed if you do not quit.

Every gaming group has that one friend who says, “I am almost there,” while still being three zones away. Every team has the tank who arrives late but somehow saves everyone. Every RPG player has spent too long organizing inventory instead of moving the story forward. Every card player has built a deck that needed “just one more adjustment” for six straight weeks. And somehow, that is part of the fun.

Marty, the Gold King, would probably walk into Infinity Gaming, look at a player grinding slowly through a hard level, and say, “That slug has royal determination.” He might not be wrong. Some of the best wins in gaming come from patience, not flash. The slow player who studies the map, learns the matchup, reads the card text, and stops button-mashing eventually becomes dangerous.

Today’s gaming horoscope keeps that same energy. Aries should slow down before charging into the boss room. Ta**us should trust the build they have been working on. Gemini needs to finish one game before starting three more. Cancer should replay an old favorite for comfort. Leo is ready for a dramatic comeback. Virgo should organize the collection but not disappear into the sorting box forever. Libra needs a co-op night. Scorpio should stop pretending the stealth mission was supposed to become a firefight. Sagittarius should try a new genre. Capricorn should grind responsibly. Aquarius should test the weird strategy nobody believes in yet. Pisces should pick the game with the best soundtrack and enjoy the ride.

Slugs Return From Capistrano Day is silly, but the lesson is solid: slow progress is still progress. Whether you are building a deck, chasing collectibles, practicing a fighter, learning a new game, or just trying to beat that one level that keeps mocking you, Infinity Gaming is the place to keep the hobby fun. Stop by, level up at your own pace, and remember that even the slowest player can still make it to the final boss.

Nothing to Fear Day: Try the Boss Fight, Load the Save, and Stop Avoiding the Game

May 27, 2026

Nothing to Fear Day encourages people to face one small fear and step outside their comfort zone. In gaming terms, that means it may finally be time to stop circling the boss door, stop hoarding every potion “just in case,” and stop pretending the tutorial area is your permanent residence.

At Infinity Gaming in Hickory, we know every player has a fear. Maybe it is ranked matches. Maybe it is a survival horror game played with the lights off. Maybe it is finally admitting that the water level was not “bad design” — you just got lost for forty minutes.

But gaming is built around growth. You try, fail, learn the pattern, upgrade your gear, and try again. That same spirit is what makes retro games, modern titles, consoles, cards, collectibles, and local gaming communities so much fun.

Whether you are hunting for games, trading stories, browsing collectibles, or reconnecting with a console you grew up with, Infinity Gaming is the place to visit.

Daily Gaming Horoscope

Aries: Push the objective today. No camping in real life or in-game.
Ta**us: Inventory management is your superpower. Use it.
Gemini: Multiplayer chaos follows you, but somehow it works.
Cancer: Cozy games and comfort saves are favored.
Leo: Main character energy is high. Try not to steal every cutscene.
Virgo: Today is for perfecting builds, sorting cards, and fixing loadouts.
Libra: Co-op games bring better luck than solo grinding.
Scorpio: Mystery, stealth, and horror titles hit right today.
Sagittarius: Explore the side quest. The main quest can wait.
Capricorn: Strategy games reward your patience.
Aquarius: Try something weird, indie, or overlooked.
Pisces: Nostalgia is strong. Retro gaming may call your name.

Face the level. Visit Infinity Gaming in Hickory.

Memorial Day Weekend Tribute — May 23, 2026

Memorial Day is Monday, and this weekend we begin with a story from World War II that reminds us how complicated and courageous American service has often been. Daniel K. Inouye was a young Japanese American soldier serving with the 442nd Regimental Combat Team, one of the most decorated units of its size in U.S. military history.

The 442nd was made up largely of Japanese American soldiers, many of whom served while their families were held in internment camps back home. They fought for a country that had questioned their loyalty, and they answered that injustice with extraordinary service.

On April 21, 1945, near San Terenzo, Italy, Inouye was leading an assault against a heavily defended ridge. His platoon came under intense machine-gun fire. Inouye moved forward, attacking enemy positions and directing his men. During the fight, he was struck by enemy fire, and his right arm was severely wounded. Still, he continued leading the assault until the position was taken.

Inouye lost his arm from the wounds he received that day. He later received the Medal of Honor. After the war, he went on to serve his country in public office for decades, but the moment in Italy remains one of the clearest examples of personal courage under fire.

This story matters during Memorial Day weekend because it reminds us that American soldiers have sometimes had to fight two battles at once: the enemy in front of them and prejudice behind them. The men of the 442nd proved their loyalty in blood, sacrifice, and service.

As Memorial Day approaches on Monday, we honor Daniel Inouye, the 442nd Regimental Combat Team, and all American service members who gave everything despite being denied the full respect they deserved at home. Their courage enlarged the meaning of American honor.
