One copyright complaint removed a 4 year old listing for a black bear skull.

I’ve been manufacturing and selling miniature replicas of that skull for years through the Scale Grail.

This week Etsy removed my listing because another 3d printing seller filed a copyright complaint against it.

Here’s the problem: Our models are clearly not even the same. That was my skull, made 3 years prior to when they released their digital files (which they do not even sell miniatures of).

My work was independently created years ago.

I’ve filed a formal counter-notice but for now my product is gone.

So hours of work, equipment, and expertise can be undone by one fraudulent copyright complaint.

It should not be so easy to disrupt artist’s livelihoods.

So add me to the list of many who have shared their similar stories, and if it has happened to you, let me know!

The other day we toured our first retail space for the Scale Grail storefront!

After 5 years we have really outgrown our home, and we are so excited to start the process of moving out! So, if you are in North Carolina, especially the triad, you can currently pick your orders up from us if you would prefer!

As far as moving goes, we will be showing the entire process of transforming an online business to a retail location with a storefront and whatever challenges that brings.

And we have opened local production for any purpose. The Scale Grail makes miniatures, masters, and props for any need down to 3mm. Message us!

We have miniature femur bones! Here's the first listing in 1:12 scale but we can always go smaller/larger for your projects so just let us know. Halloween is less than two months away! So grab your bones and make something spooky! 🦴

We have some snails available! These are a choose your size item because they range in size so much. We chose a 1:6 and 1:12 size we thought looks good in our variations, but you can decide what's best for you!

Tiny scorpions in 1:12 scale are here!

These are a variant on a request from and they were such an obviously good idea I couldn't wait to get these tiny arachnids made up.

They are so tiny they'll fit perfectly into all sorts of projects, like dice.
