Beyond the Portfolio: How Designers Build Visibility Through Storytelling and Sourcing
Sunday, October 18th - 12:00 pm – 1:00pm
Today’s most memorable design work is not defined only by beautiful rooms, but also by the stories behind them. This conversation will look at how designers use antiques, vintage pieces and collectible artistic objects to build a stronger point of view, and how those sourcing choices can shape the way a project is presented to clients, editors and the wider design community. The discussion will explore what makes a project story feel distinctive, how designers can communicate the value behind what they source, and why rooms with history, craft and cultural context often create stronger opportunities for visibility beyond the finished photos.
Speakers: Dilara Tuncer, Rachel Fasciani and Jourdan Fairchild

Great homes are never the result of a single vision—they emerge through the collaboration of architects, builders, landscape architects, and interior designers working together to create places that are both beautiful and enduring. Join moderator Bronwyn Ford and panelists Alex Ancona, Jason Williams, Jeff Allen, and Mary Margaret Underwood for a conversation exploring how these disciplines
intersect to shape exceptional residential projects throughout North Carolina. Sponsored by the North Carolina Chapter of the Institute of Classical Architecture & Art.

Defining Americana: The Evolving Language of American Design
Saturday, October 17th - 12:00 pm – 1:00pm What does “American design” mean today? Beyond familiar motifs and period styles, today’s designers are drawing from regional traditions, handcrafted objects, antiques, vernacular architecture, and contemporary makers to create interiors that feel deeply personal and distinctly American. Join moderator Ben Ashby, editor-in-chief of The Cottage Journal, along with leading interior designers Michel Smith Boyd and Max Humphrey for a thoughtful conversation exploring how history,
craftsmanship, and collecting continue to shape the evolving language of American design
