🌟Volunteer Spotlight 🌟
Joyce Weakland

This week’s volunteer spotlight is Joyce Weakland. Joyce has been volunteering at Legacy Thrift store for 19 years.

Joyce started working at Legacy Thrift when her church had a community service day. She liked it so much that when she retired, she became a regular volunteer. She started working just one day a week but now works three days plus the Saturdays that we are open.

Joyce works in the back processing adult clothing. Clothing is one of our biggest sellers, so it takes lots of hands to process the clothes. Processing includes sorting, tagging, hanging the clothes and putting them out on the floor. Often there are mounds of clothes that need to be done.

Joyce enjoys volunteering because she feels it’s doing God‘s work of helping others and that it provides a wonderful service to people from all walks of life. She also likes the fact that she forms new friendships, and she has a great time because we all talk and laugh while we are working. Joyce says “It is a very friendly atmosphere, and it gives a purpose to your life to come in and help. It’s like having a second family! And it gives us another opportunity to help other groups that help people in need.”
