Can you believe it - it's Fair and Festival Season already - where has 2025 gone?

DA leather will be vending at the following locations this year:

May 23-27, 2025 Packwood Flea Market, 13049 US-12, Packwood, WA 98361 (Across the street from Blanton's IGA Market)

July1-5, 2025 St. Paul Rodeo, St. Paul, Oregon. Our booth is located near Section F of the Grandstands at the corner of Delorme Avenue and 2nd Street.

July 30-August 2, 2025 Yamhill County Fair, 2070 NE Lafayette Ave, McMinnville, OR 97128 Our booth is located on the main road between the Concert Stage and Rodeo Area (just around the corner from the food booths).

August 22-September 1, 2025 Oregon State Fair - Located at the State Fairgrounds in Salem, Oregon. Oregon State Fair has changed their layout for 2025 We will be located in the "Sunflower Shops" section in the main booths just outside of Columbia Hall Creative Living building (Between the Red and Green gate roads). Once we know our exact booth location we will post a map here.

At the 2024 Oregon State fair we introduced our Coaster line. It was so popular a few of our designs sold out at the fair and the few we had left sold before Christmas. We have them back in stock along with new designs. I'm hoping to add photos of these over the next few days and add them to www.daleather.com

Stop by one of the locations we will be vending at or our shop in Hillsboro, Oregon to see the coasters in person along with additional items we have expanded.

Basic Tooling – Western Flower Coaster Cost: $20

In this beginner-friendly class, you'll learn the foundational skills of leather tooling while creating a beautiful western flower design on a coaster. Using vegetable-tanned leather, you'll practice carving and stamping techniques with essential tools, including a stylus, mallet, swivel knife, and the six basic stamping tools. Ample practice time will be provided to ensure you feel confident with the tools before completing your project.
Tools:
• Bring your own tools if you have them, or purchase tools from DA Leather.
• Tool rental is available for $10.00, which can be applied toward the purchase of a basic six-tool set and mallet if you decide to buy.
Registration:
• Pre-registration is required by January 25, 2025.

Intermediate Leatherworking: Make Your Own Purse
This class is perfect for those with some prior experience in leatherworking and basic tooling.

In this first session of a three-part series, you'll learn how to design a pattern (covering all the essential details) and cut vegetable-tanned leather to begin creating your own custom purse. The purse design is a classic purse and you will be able to choose from a few patterns to tool on the front of the purse.

In the second session of the Purse Making series, you’ll learn how to mark your leather for sewing or lacing holes, scribe the leather to prepare it for tooling, and begin tooling the pattern for your custom purse.

The final session you will learn:
• Leather dyeing techniques and how to apply different types of finishes to your purse project.
• Sewing and lacing techniques to assemble your purse.
By the end of this class, you will have completed your custom leather purse, ready to take home and show off!

Important Details:
• Enrollment in all three classes is required to complete the project.
• Basic tooling skills are a prerequisite.
Tools:
• Bring your own tools if you have them, or purchase tools from DA Leather.
• Tool rental is available for $10.00, which can be applied toward the purchase of a basic six-tool set and mallet if you decide to buy.

In this class you will learn the basics of hand sewing leather. You will learn the ins and outs, and in the between’ s of the Running Stitch, Whip Stitch, Saddle Stitch and Lock Stitch. In addition to stiches, you will learn to use tools that will help establish your stitching line and look professional.

This class covers the basics in lacing with leather lace. In this class, you’ll learn all about the different laces, lacing needles and lacing chisel. Once you understand the differences, complexities, and variations available, using these techniques will dramatically improve your leather projects. All materials will be provided, or feel free to bring your own.

Leather Dyes, Antiques and Finishes Cost: $25.00

Want to learn how to dye and finish your leather projects? In this class we learn all about different dyes, stains, antiques, paints and the different finish options that can be used with them. We’ll be doing hands-on work, so be sure to wear clothes you can work in (we don’t want you to dye/stain your “Sunday best”)!
