I’ve been pretty quiet for a while. When things are slow and the world feels a bit heavy, it's hard to find the motivation to post my little trinkets, do all the business social songs and dances and pretend it’s all sunshine, sales and rainbows. I know a lot of you are feeling the same. I’ve been using my time to get back to the basics - living life, finding small moments of happiness in the mundane, and making things with my hands that bring me joy. I'm restocking some old favorites, and pretty soon I'll be dusting off the ol' display shelves and getting back out there at markets. Here is where you can find me in the coming months:
May 10th 12-4PM - Geek & Grub Book Nerd Market @ Durham Armory
June 21st 12-4PM - Geek & Grub Gaming Market @ Durham Armory
July 12th 12-4PM - Geek & Grub Anime Market @ Durham Armory

I’d love to see some familiar faces. Come say hi, even if you’re just there for the vibes. ✨

I'm probably going to make another set of these, as the letter press didn't turn out quite like I wanted, but y'know...the sentiment is there

This isn't a controversial political opinion anymore, for me, nor an extreme one, and if you support what's happening I don't want you buying my s**t anyway, so I'm going to say it: F**K ICE. DEFUND ICE. Prosecute ALL employees of ICE.

A custom order for a repeat customer :) The blue globe was a happy accident. I was trying to use a stencil with an acrylic paint marker to put little snowflakes on at first, and it bled out the sides underneath the stencil and got all smudgy. Even though I wiped it off quickly, the clay had absorbed some of the pigment. At first I was worried I ruined it, but then I thought "What if I tried doing this paint and wipe method across the whole globe?" and this was the result. I'm happy with it! I learned what not to do with stencils and a new technique at the same time.

Would you like to see these in my shop, or a variation of them? Please let me know in the comments!

TL:DR If your USB-C connection for your Cricut Maker 4 ain't workin' right, try a cord with USB-A instead and see what happens!

Got a Cricut Maker 4 a few days ago as an early Christmas present. I mostly use it for personal projects, but occasionally do print things for my lil business here! I had a Cricut Joy Xtra, but really wanted to branch out and try more materials. Unpacked, plugged in, get the firmware updates, calibrate PtC, first job goes fine. Second job, I feed in the mat....machine takes in roughly 20, 25% of it and freezes up. Takes like 2-5 minutes to pull the mat in and actually let me progress to the next step. For a USB connection, that's pretty strange! I did tech support as a living for a while, so I just started proverbially poking it with a stick. I did several troubleshooting steps, uninstalling and reinstalling Design Space including wiping the cache folders, restarting and checking the path/blade for debris, different project, everythin' I could think of, no change. So I got creative - what could I easily replace to test what component may have gone wibbly?

I'm lucky my spouse is a packrat. They happened to have a spare USB-B to USB-A layin' around. Replaced the stock USB-C cord with that one - prints flawlessly, no delays. I hooked up my antennas to my PC and checked the Bluetooth connection too - flawless, no delays. So for me, this means one of two things:

1: The cord mine came with is faulty. However, I would expect no connection/complete failure, not just a heavy delay. Hardware failures for that particular component on most things tend to be all-or-nothing.
2: Somethin' about the USB-C software connection is borked. Could be that it needs a very specific version of USB-C (I rebuilt my PC last year so its very new) or maybe I have a driver that could use an update!

Ultimately I've decided to switch to Bluetooth connection anyway for ease of use based on my physical office layout, but thought my little journey here might help someone else, and I will continue to poke at the USB-C thing and update if anything changes. Happy crafting y'all
