Remembering Bud Beloin
Beloved Entrepreneur Bud Beloin's Legacy at Coligny Plaza
We announce the peaceful passing of renowned Coligny entrepreneur Bud Beloin. Mr. Beloin leaves behind a rich legacy intertwined with Coligny Plaza, where his entrepreneurial spirit and warm connections with the community will be forever remembered.
Following a successful career in executive management with major Fortune 500 companies, Mr. Beloin retired to Callawassie Island in 1995. However, his passion for business and community engagement led him to acquire Jamaican Me Crazy in the mid-1990s from its original owner shortly after its establishment in Coligny.
Mr. Beloin's love for retail and his genuine care for customers and friends quickly became evident as he expanded his business ventures. Alongside Jamaican Me Crazy, he owned Boondoggles on Bay St in Beaufort, SC, and two additional shops at Coligny Plaza. His strategic vision led to the acquisition of Java Joes Coffee, later transformed into Fresh Produce Sportswear, showcasing his entrepreneurial prowess.
Retiring in 2007, Mr. Beloin passed the reins of Fresh Produce Sportswear to his stepson George, while his daughter Kate, referred to affectionately as "Bud Jr" due to their shared passion and traits, took over Jamaican Me Crazy in 2010 and to this day, still own and operate the store.
Throughout his entrepreneurial journey, Mr. Beloin fostered meaningful relationships within the community, particularly enjoying a warm rapport with JR Richardson, Owner of Coligny, and a deep friendship with his Jamaican Me Crazy neighbor, David Martin, Owner of Piggy Wiggly Coligny.
Mr. Beloin's legacy extends far beyond business; he leaves behind a lasting impact on Coligny and the hearts of those who knew him. His contributions to the local business landscape and his cherished connections will be remembered forever.
