If you are a fan of G***ks, you will like this pistol. Palmetto State Armory (PSA) has developed a new line of fi****ms, the PSA Dagger. The Dagger is a G***k 19 Gen 3 clone with a lot of added features that should make it a more desirable carry option. The slide is milled to give it a slightly lighter and less box like feel. It also has front and rear serrations. One of the major flaws in the Gen 3 G***k design was a plastic guide rod. The Dagger comes standard with a stainless steel guide rod which should help with accuracy by lessening the flex during recoil. The Dagger also comes with night sights. The model we have here also comes with a threaded barrel.
The frame is polymer, and varies slightly from a standard G***k Gen3 frame. One added feature is a beaver tail on the rear of the frame to help avoid slide bite. The frame also features a stippling pattern on both sides of the grip, as well as the front strap and the palm swell. The front strap also features one finger groove as opposed to Two on the standard Gen 3 G***k. It uses G***k style magazines, comes with one Magpul Pmag (15 round).
From an accuracy and reliability perspective, it is similar if not slightly better than a G***k 19. The upgraded guide rod is a plus in this instance. It also features an extended mag release. The trigger is very similar in pull to a G***k trigger. However, the Dagger features a Smith and Wesson style hinged safety trigger. Some would make the argument that this is a more comfortable option, but that is semantics.
To purchase a G***k 19 Gen3 new, you would be looking at $500-$600 depending on where you buy it. Then, to upgrade the mag release and guide rod, you will spend another $50-$100 or so. Then, tack on another $100-$200 or so for night sights. Then, to get a threaded barrel you will spend at least another $100 to purchase one, with many options running far north of that price. Then, you take it to a gunsmith to mill and refinish. Easily another $200-$300, plus another $50 if you want the frame stippled. So, by the time it's all said and done, you will be in a G***k 19 Gen 3 for $1,000-$1,400. The PSA Dagger comes with all these features for around $475. $550 with RMR cuts. Seems like a heck of a deal to me.
