We went to the riverbank last week for no particular reason. Walked carefully on the rocks because we were wearing flip flops (important life skill). We poked things with sticks, flipped over rocks, picked wildflowers, and each found a tree stump to sit on. There were important conversations (“That cloud looks like Gonzo from The Muppet Show”), interesting discoveries (crayfish exoskeletons), along with stretches of peaceful silence.
Why don’t we make more time for things like this?
