Serialized specimen records are live.

Every qualifying specimen we sell now carries a sequential serial number, TC-00001 format, tied to a permanent record page on our site.

What is on the record:
Identification data and weight recorded to two decimal places
Hand written provenance for that specimen
Photographs of the exact stone
For classified material, Meteoritical Bulletin data reproduced verbatim with a link to the source entry

The photographs do the work. No two meteorite surfaces are alike, so a specimen can be matched to its record by eye and confirmed on the scale. The page stays live for every future owner, not just the first buyer.

Applied at $1,000 and above, plus selected specimens below that threshold. Enter any serial at the link in bio to pull its record.

Our meteorite screening app is now live on both iPhone and Android.
Meteorite Check is the free tool we built to help finders get an honest read on a rock before spending money on lab testing. It walks through the observable checks: magnet response, streak, density, fusion crust, and more. The app screens your find, it does not confirm it. That part is always up to a laboratory.
Free to screen. Optional photo analysis if you want a closer look.

This 196.64 gram teardrop endcut has a mirror polished face full of reflective FeNi metal. H3 is the least metamorphosed grade in the high iron chondrite group, so the chondrules and original textures stay sharply preserved, a direct look at material from the early solar system.

Officially classified in Meteoritical Bulletin 114, with the main mass held here at Treasure Coast Meteorite Co. Shock stage S1, weathering W0. Ships with a certificate of authenticity.

Meteorite Check is now available on Android.

If you've ever picked up a strange rock and wondered "could this actually be a meteorite," this app is built for that exact moment. It walks
you through the same observable tests collectors and hunters use in the field, magnetism, streak color, density, fusion crust, and a few others, then gives you an honest screening result. Not a lab confirmation, but a real read on whether the rock is worth testing further before you spend money on that.

Screening is completely free. An optional photo analysis add-on is available if you want extra input on a photo of your specimen.

Built by Treasure Coast Meteorite Co., IMCA
dealer #3323.

iOS version is coming soon. Android is live now, link below.

Why a nickel test can fail on a real meteorite
This is Gebel Kamil, a nickel-rich iron meteorite. In the video I run a DMG nickel test on it three times and get two negatives and one positive on the same specimen.
Filed exterior: negative. Freshly sawn face: negative. A face I etched with ferric chloride: instant bright pink.
The reason is that DMG reacts with nickel in solution, not with solid metal. Clean filed or sawn metal is too inert for a plain drop to dissolve any nickel, so you get a false negative. The ferric chloride etch frees nickel into ionic form, so the reagent reacts at once.
A negative nickel test does not always mean no nickel. Sometimes it just means the surface was not prepared. People reject real meteorites over exactly this.

Full writeup:

Why a nickel test can fail on a real iron meteorite. A Gebel Kamil demonstration of false negatives and how to prepare the surface for a valid result.

2cm Muonionalusta iron meteorite cubes. Kind of different from my usual products. These weigh roughly 65g.

NWA 18497, CVox3 carbonaceous chondrite, just published in MetBull 115. Loaded with CAIs, the oldest solids in the solar system. 1 of only 64 approved CVox3 meteorites.

An ungrouped iron meteorite that struck Egypt within human history, less than 5,000 years ago. An iron that fits no known group. Chemically, it matches nothing else that has ever fallen.
