I’m raffling off a one-of-a-kind brain-tanned Haudenosaunee-style beaded yoke. This piece is coming home with me from Santa Fe Indian Market and I’m glad it did. I feel like it belongs to a home in the East. I love creating these pieces to be worn, displayed, and appreciated for generations.

My new obsession:
Half-scale mannequin dresses🤎

She’s about American Girl Doll-sized, but don’t let her size fool you. She’s a full little exhibition piece.Travel-ready. Easy to exhibit. Minimal space required.

This is a half-scale traditional Haudenosaunee dress, and I am absolutely obsessed with making them.

The problem is… I need a plan for them before I keep making more.

I’m imagining a collection of these little figures, each one telling a different story through the clothing, beadwork, materials and details.

So now I’m at the fun part: figuring out what these can become beyond just something I’m obsessed with making.

Score #1 I found an old Haudenosaunee beaded purse that someone had repurposed into a coin purse.

Score #2 I purchased a Levi’s vest hella cheap! Naturally, it needed to be covered in patches, beadwork, or some kind of rework. I noticed the old beaded pocket flaps were almost the exact shape as the vest pockets. PERFECT.

So I deconstructed the vest pockets, took apart the old beaded coin purse, carefully reinforced as many of the old bead stitches as I could, and married the two together.

Because why buy an outfit when you can spend hours taking apart perfectly good things and putting them back together? 😂
