Shop: niawen.com I'm Tara, founder of Niawen, a Kanien'kehá:ka (Mohawk) woman, wife, mother, grandmother, and healer at Akwesasne. Niawen means thank you. I named it that on purpose, because everything here begins in gratitude: to the plants, to the women who came before me, and to the knowledge that survived everything it wasn't supposed to. I make skincare for women in midlife. For skin that changed after 35 and never got an honest explanation. For the season when you stop fading and start moving toward the center. Every formula is rooted in Indigenous plant wisdom and made in small batches, by hand. Not a routine, a ritual. A few quiet minutes that belong only to you. Niawen-thank you, for being here. 💛

This Indigenous Peoples’ Day, I’m celebrating him taking his place on the runway and the Indigenous creativity, beauty, and talent this show brings into the spotlight.

Watching him walk, I see the little boy I raised and the man he’s become. What a gift to cheer him on.
