🪙 Throwback Thursday: The First U.S. Gold Coin 🪙

Before the United States became known for its iconic gold coins, the very first official U.S. gold coin was the 1795 Half Eagle ($5). Struck just a few years after the U.S. Mint opened, these coins were produced by hand-operated presses, making each one slightly unique.
