Just listed this stunning 1549 Matthew's Tyndale Bible. The work was compiled primarily by John Rogers, who used William Tyndale’s unpublished translation work. As a result, the text is essentially Tyndale’s from Genesis through 2 Chronicles, as well as the entire New Testament. Rogers published the Bible under the pseudonym Thomas Matthew to conceal his connection to Tyndale and avoid persecution by the authorities. Tragically, Rogers later became the first Protestant martyr burned under Queen Mary, burned at the stake in front of his wife and eleven children.

This lovely 1594 Geneva Bible just arrived. Not only does it retain its original beveled oak board and metalwork, this edition is know for a curious misprint. On the title page of the New Testament the year of printing is erroneously attributed to “1495”. The misprint is striking not only for its numerical error but also for its historical impossibility, as the New Testament in English was still decades away - a fascinating anachronism.

A 1584 Greek-Hebrew Bible with Latin from the Antwerp Polyglot — a stunning example of the Bible in its original languages, with an interlinear Latin translation to guide the reader.

Ad Fontes (to the sources) was one of the rallying cries of the Renaissance and Reformation, urging scholars to return to the Bible and classical works in their original languages. By going back to Hebrew and Greek, they could correct errors in later translations, recover lost nuances, and gain a purer understanding of Scripture.

The work is reprinted from the great Antwerp Polyglot of 1569-72, one of the greatest scholarly printing achievements of the sixteenth century. Produced in Antwerp between 1568 and 1572, it was sponsored by King Philip II of Spain, edited by the Spanish orientalist Benito Arias Montano, and printed by the master printer Christopher Plantin.

A 1541 complete Great Bible in a green goatskin binding. This copy was described by Francis Fry who gifted it to his daughter.

Of course he wanted the best for his daughter so a few pages contain pen facsimile repairs. These were done by John Harris and the quality is so good that you can’t tell them apart from the original.

We're headed to Dallas for the Antiquarian Book Fair!

This event is being promoted in partnership with the Texas Booksellers Association (TBA) and the Antiquarian Booksellers Association of America (ABAA). Plenty of dealers from the TBA and ABAA will be present. This is an exciting opportunity since the ABAA fairs are traditionally held on the coasts.

If you're located in Texas, the South, or the Midwest, this fair may be closer to home, and we'd love to see you there in person.

The parking is free and there is plenty of room to explore rare and antiquarian books.
