This one is a trip... go with me.
So our local writer and bookshop friend Jean Davis did a major stock up last week - when you've published over 20 titles, all of the stockups seem to be pretty big - and it reminded me: another bookshop friend and book club organizer just bought the Grafschaap antique shop Nob Hill Too , and Tory had just posted something that would be perfect for highlighting Jean's books... Chicken Dishes!
So I went down to visit for the first time since Tory took over, and she still had a whole display of them! But right next to the glass chickens was this other display case full of gorgeous carnival glass pieces. Tory lamented that she wasn't sure if Holland was the right place for them - they are a little dark and gothic when compared to the rest of the vintage glass she had in store.
This style might not be popular with Tory's Holland... but I know they will be with our Holland. And it reminded me:
We are all shaped by the experiences we have, and those can drastically change the way we see our world. Books will always help us to expand our views and see beyond who we are to who we can be, so the next time you stop in, maybe pick a book out that isn't your usual genre or viewpoint. Change "my world" to "our world".
And go buy a chicken from Tory. 😆
