My father was a lapidary hobbiest for several years and cut and polished many stones. I remember well the very first time he showed me some of his many accomplishments. Once he had been working on several pieces of "Tigers Eye" and he showed me the chatoyancy and luster he created, it just blew me away. Prior to that, I had no idea that such beauty was even possible to accomplish on one's work ben
ch. Dad also had a faceting machine with which he faceted several precious stones such as rubies, star saphires and garnets. Again, mind blown! Then, sometime in the late 70's my wonderful sister Linda (who had a business in Argentina) brought me back a beautiful polished Chilean Agate bookend (which still sits in my display case to this day). It is absolutely beautiful and I will cherrish it forever! Currently! Although I've always loved searching for and collecting beautiful stones, it wasn't until I retired from construction as a heavy equipment operator (Oct 2019) that I actually had the time for cutting, shaping and polishing my own finds. So now I've started something I've always wanted to do as far as I can remember. I've started "HeadWaters Lapidary"! A stone cutting, shaping and polishing endeavor which includes, beautifully wire wrapped jewelry as well as cabinet displays. I use several types of wire to wrap my cabochons including, 925 sterling silver, 14c gold and tarnish resistant copper wire. My goal is to allow others to experience the beauty of what has been hidden for millions of years inside some of these beautiful stones. My creations are very reasonably priced and are for sale on the HeadWaters Lapidary page. Why the name "HeadWaters Lapidary"! Besides the love of stones, I am also an avid flyfisher. The feel of a "wild trout" on the end of a flyline is amazing to me, a true gift of life. The waters that I love to fish most are the high altitude upper reaches of large river systems known as "headwaters". Not to mention that these headwaters often have beautiful stones to collect as well. So this is where the name "HeadWaters Lapidary" comes from. Thank you so much for visiting the page feel free to browse the photo albums and view my creations. Also please like, follow and share my page.
