Hey Everyone, My name is Hayley and I’d like to share with you why I decided to build a store for our Unique Children and their Families…
Ok, our youngest Laylon who is coming up at 6 years old has ASD-Asperges, GDD- Global Development Delay set at only 2 years of age in all his Personal and Learning Development. Also, SPD-Sensory Processing Disorder. Scared from Sudden and Loud Noises and too many people around him (crowds)
Each one of these challenges him every single day…. For all of you parents out there you can totally understand that Right!!
Most of the things that you and I would not even think about each day are things that can be terrifying to them and cause so much anxiety and distress, often ending in either that child darting and running away, hitting out, soiling themselves, or just stand there shaking like a leaf…. As they Just don’t understand.
A lot of the time these circumstances can leave the child in danger as My Son Laylon gets terrified by a Loud Noise that can be just a Bang out of nowhere, a Bin lorry screeching, or Sudden loud Music!!! He will just dart and Run, Run, run with no sense of danger often Running straight across a busy Main Road…. Which is just terrifying…. The last time my Son did this once he was caught, he was still just saying but Mummy I like to run!! Whatttttttt He has No idea he was in so much danger!!!!
Our family also can’t go out for Dinner in a restaurant… you might say Hey why not? This is because he can’t stand to be in a designated place, with lots of people and Noise!!! it totally terrifies him. Some Children can achieve this by wearing Ear defender’s which are awesome but My Boy is SOOO sensory that you can’t touch anything around his head especially his ears and therefore wearing ear defenders is a big NO-NO for him, unfortunately. Also, don’t talk to me about a Hair Cut!!!
Such an Upsetting situation trying to achieve this for both Child and Parent as often results in the parent having to hold and restrict the child and the Child well is in such a mess and the aftereffect of hitting out and being upset can roll on for the whole day and even through the night and into another day….. this is quite Common and totally exhausting all round!!!
So, I would like to share and offer products that I have used with my Son and also other Parents have found very useful in not only Stress Relief, Reduce Anxiety, help your child self-regulate, improve both Fine and Gross Motor Skills, Sleep Better also, Useful within an Educational setting helping Concentration, improve Writing and so much more.
