Occasionally, customers will share their favorite flowers that remind them of their special loved ones.
For a customer turned friend, it’s sunflowers, which her father always grew. She has been getting a remembrance arrangement for the last several years since he passed away. I hope when she looks at she smiles through the tears that may appear, breathe in the lavender that I included, and remember the good times. 🌻
For another friend, sunflowers are a sign from God for hope even in the saddest of times. I have included a screenshot of her message to me that I thought others might find solace in. 🙏
And for me, it’s the white phlox that remind me of my great-grandmother, that I transplanted from her yard to mine. The sweet smell, takes me back to our years of car ride trips together to the county fair with every nook and cranny of our vehicles (plus 3-4 others!), filled with vases of flowers and arrangements to show at the floriculture show. We did it 2 times the week of the fair and by Friday, we may have said a few things out of pure exhaustion, and by Sunday, we were planning to do it all over for the next year. And one year there was no next year, and so she now has a class named after her at the Logan County Fair in Central IL. What an honor to learn and stand by a woman that taught me so much about flowers, life, hard work, and how to love 7 kids plus many grandchildren unconditionally.
The power of flowers and the power of memories, they truly go hand in hand. ❤️💐
