Earlier this year, I traveled to Badou, Togo to meet the farmers behind what will become our newest origin chocolate. The full origin story is linked in the comments.
740 farmers. 25 villages. Organic and Fair Trade certified, with an additional premium paid on top.
Our first container of Togolese cacao is now crossing the Atlantic toward our factory in Honesdale. Later this summer, we’ll begin crafting chocolate from these beans, and I can’t wait to share it with you.
One of the things I enjoy most about this work is getting to spend time with the people behind the products we make. This partnership has included multiple visits, conversations with farming communities, and even sharing our packaging concepts before they ever went to print.
Soon, these beans will become the chocolate bars you’ll find on our shelves.
For us, chocolate starts with relationships.
