Big mahalo to everyone who came out last night to celebrate the life and legacy of Gabby “Pops” Pahinui at our annual Makalauna Celebration! 🎶

Since 2017, this special gathering at Waikīkī Beach Walk has brought the community together to honor Pops and his lasting influence on Hawaiian music, particularly his role in carrying forward the tradition of kī hō‘alu, or Hawaiian slack-key guitar.

We’re so grateful to everyone who joined us for an evening filled with incredible Hawaiian music, hula, culture and aloha. Mahalo for helping us continue to celebrate one of Hawaiʻi’s most beloved musical legends and keep his legacy alive for generations to come! 🤙🏽

Tomorrow’s the day! 🎶🙌🏽 We’re so excited to welcome everyone to Waikiki Beach Walk for the Makalauna Celebration honoring the music and legacy of Gabby Pahinui.

Join us tomorrow, Saturday, August 22 as we celebrate with an evening of Hawaiian music, hula and aloha. The ceremony begins at 4:30PM, followed by live musical tributes from 5–8PM featuring Blaine Kia, Del Beazley & Friends, the George Kuo Band, Greg Sardinha Band, special guest Kunia Galdeira and more 🤙🏽 We can’t wait to celebrate with you tomorrow!
