Spey lines have gradually gotten shorter and shorter over the years, but it sure is fun to pick up a longer line now and again!  RIO's new Anadromous Advantage is a great modern take on a fully-integrated/slightly longer Spey Line.  It's a deadly system on bigger water when paired with their 12' MDC tips.  With head lengths in the 40-46' range, the Anadromous Advantage packs a bit more punch than older mid-belly lines.  If you're looking for a line option to deliver longer casts on big water with minimal stripping required, this one is a winner.

SteelheadBum.com and Gorge Fly Shop are one and the same, run by the same crew from our fly shop in Hood River, Oregon. Gorge Fly Shop has been around since 1992, helping anglers with rods, reels, lines, waders, flies, and plenty of fishing advice along the way.

SteelheadBum.com gives us a place to focus more heavily on steelhead and Spey fishing, while GorgeFlyShop.com covers the much bigger world of fly fishing gear we carry every day.

A: First off these tips are textured, which reduces friction, making it a tad easier to pick up off water and secondly, they're tapered, thirdly they are density compensated, so they'll turn over your flies smoother and make your presentations better.
