Established in 1987, Music Central has grown to become the only complete music retailer in the area, serving musicians, churches, schools, and music educators. Music Central is one of the very few dealers in the U.S. that represents all three divisions of Yamaha musical instruments: Yamaha Clavinova, Yamaha band and orchestral instruments, and Yamaha MI (portable keyboards, guitars, etc.). We also

carry band instruments from Buffet Crampon and Powell and other product lines are being added. Music Central continues to serve and support the school music market, which has been its primary focus since the business opened. Music Central specializes in all aspects of school music, servicing school music programs across Kentucky and Tennessee. In addition to offering instruments for band and orchestra, we also feature guitars and basses from Fender, Ibanez, Squier, Warwick, and Yamaha. Our Live Sound division carries and installs sound reinforcement from Yamaha, QSC, Behringer, Shure, JBL, Audio Technica, PreSonus and Turbosound as well as professional stage lighting and video projection equipment. Our Music Central Academy now has four instructors on woodwind and brass instruments, drum set, guitar and electric bass and piano. We are actively recruiting more qualified instructors and we welcome new students and their parents to tour our facility located in the front portion of our building at 1811 E. 9th Street in Hopkinsville. We continue to seek new ways to serve the musical community of western Kentucky and middle Tennessee, and we invite you to visit us soon in Hopkinsville. 🚨 INVENTORY UPDATE 🚨

We are pleased to report that Music Central has officially survived Inventory 2026.

After two long days of counting, recounting, and questioning our sanity, we can confirm that every guitar, trombone, trumpet, drumstick, microphone, and yes... every single clarinet has been accounted for.

Against all odds, no employees were lost in this process.

No one fell ill from excessive barcode scanning.

No one was "unalived" by an avalanche of instrument cases.

And only a few minor disagreements occurred regarding whether a recorder should technically be considered an instrument.

The good news is that we're BACK OPEN and ready for business!

Thank you all for your patience, understanding, and cooperation during this difficult time for everyone involved. Your thoughts and prayers helped carry us through the darkest moments... particularly the clarinet section.

We look forward to serving you again and kindly ask that you refrain from hiding merchandise until at least next year's inventory.

Just kidding. Nobody has ever said that!

We'll be closed Tuesday and Wednesday while we embark on the annual adventure of counting every guitar, drumstick, trumpet, microphone, cable, music book, and yes... every single clarinet.

There always seem to be more clarinets than the laws of mathematics should allow! Oy!

During these two days, we'll be searching stockrooms, opening mysterious boxes, questioning our life choices, and trying to determine why one random trombone can never be found until five minutes after inventory is finished.

We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience while we make sure everything is accounted for and ready to serve you better.

We'll be back soon—with accurate inventory counts, slightly sore feet, and a renewed appreciation for barcode scanners.
