I recently restored one of the concrete fawns from Ozark Annie’s. 40 years of being outside in the elements had taken its toll.

I remember when we were kids and we couldn’t see my grandma at Christmas. My grandpa was sick and didn’t allow her to be around us for several years. But it didn’t stop Anna Mae “Grandma Peters”! We would meet up with her in a parking lot and exchange gifts. She also sent us cigar boxes of trinkets from the store and a few dollars in small winnings from her race horse picks over the year from Woodlawn.
Miss her at Christmas.

Did you ever visit Ozark Annie's Gift Shop 7 miles south of Hot Springs, AR? Were you looking for souvenirs, rocks and minerals or decorative concrete items for your yard? Maybe you stopped just to see the 1907 Schacht auto on display. Perhaps you were vacationing in the area because of the lakes, scenic mountains or the horse races at Oaklawn. Or you came for the famous hot spring water baths. Roscoe and Anna Mae were my parents and I have many good memories of assisting customers at Ozark Annie's when I was young.

A very popular item at Ozark Annie's was the slag glass. This was actually a byproduct from bottle and glass jar manufacturers. A couple of these in your yard were instant conversation starters. The bluish ones look like ice. You can see the green Coca-Cola bottle color in this picture as well.
