Some guitars are so hard to give back, really enjoyed giving this guitar a new life and playing it (a lot) when I finished it up. 2006 Gibson SJ200 my client scored at a great deal since it needed so much work, the nut was not made for this guitar at all so the sizing wouldn’t allow it to fit flush and the saddle was plastic with an attached undersaddle pickup with about 3 shims of varying material to add height, which still wasn’t enough to get it to the correct height.
I Installed a K&K pure mini pickup, hand carved Bone Nut and Saddle, level/crown/polish on the frets and a full setup with 13’s. Not pictured was the removal of an insane amount of super glue the previous owner tried securing some sort of foam on the inside for some reason, I’ve seen battery pack residue before but nothing like that.
One thing I really loved about this guitar is due to how flat the bridge is, it naturally gives a great break angle behind the saddle while being set to a comfortable action. I’m always throwing my acoustics in low open tunings so even down to a low C the 6th string remained taut and rang out perfectly. Such a cool guitar, need to find one for myself that isn’t 4-6 grand.
