Charcoal can be challenging… but that’s part of the process. 🖤

It can get messy.
The values may look wrong.
The drawing can go through that stage where you start questioning everything. 😅

But one of the most important lessons in art is learning to stay calm, keep observing, and trust the process until the piece is finished.

Don’t judge your work halfway through.
Keep building the shadows, adjusting the values, erasing, blending, and refining.

Sometimes the piece just needs you to keep going. ✏️🖤

And that patience? That’s part of becoming an artist too.

Take a look at this incredible artwork created by one of my homeschool students during our Thursday art class! 🎨💖

This project challenged her to explore:

I’m so proud of how much she’s grown as an artist. Watching students bring their ideas to life is one of the most rewarding parts of teaching!

Alejandra is currently working on her second oil painting on canvas ✨🎨

As a busy business owner, she understands how important it is to create space for herself outside of work and daily responsibilities. Painting has become a way for her to slow down, disconnect from stress, and reconnect with something she truly enjoys.

Watching this piece slowly come to life has been beautiful — each layer, each class, and each moment in the studio helping her grow more confident creatively while also giving herself the care and balance she needs.

This studio was created to be more than just an art class. It’s a welcoming and inspiring space where you can learn, create, relax, and invest time in yourself through art.
