My Journey. My Story. Nick Nguyen
Starting my first business right after college was a dream come true—but it was also the beginning of a long journey filled with lessons, failures, resilience, and growth.
Growing up alone in the United States wasn’t easy. I made mistakes that cost me financially, damaged relationships with potential clients, and forced me to learn some of the hardest lessons an entrepreneur can face. Looking back, I was often much harder on myself than anyone else ever was.
I’ve never been afraid to admit when I’m wrong. I take responsibility for my mistakes, and nothing hurts me more than knowing a client isn’t happy. But through those experiences, I realized something important about myself.
When I create for the runway, I design from the heart. I think like an artist first—not a people pleaser. My work has always been about storytelling, emotion, and vision, not simply creating what’s comfortable or expected. For years, I compromised that vision because I needed to survive. I needed to pay rent, pay bills, and keep my business alive. When someone hired me, I gave them complete control over my creativity because I thought that’s what I had to do.
Not anymore.
Today, I choose to create work that stays true to my vision. I’ve learned that saying no to the wrong opportunities makes room for the right ones. If you come to me, I want it to be because you believe in my perspective, my craftsmanship, and my creative voice.
Whether you’re wearing one of my designs or investing in my brand, you’re becoming part of that vision. Your support isn’t just a purchase—it’s an investment in an artist, a dream, and everything it took to get here.
We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Nicholas Nguyen a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below. Nicholas, thanks for joining us,
