Yep. Little bit of ZZ Top history

Billy Gibbons: We recruited Frank and knew that he had what it took to keep us on time, so to speak. We needed a bass man, and he suggested Dusty, who had been his bandmate in the American Blues. Dusty came over and, in lieu of a audition, we just jammed on a blues shuffle in C. Several hours of that ensued, and we knew we had the “keeper” version of the band.
“Coming up in Houston presented a grand exposure to some of the greats — B.B. King, Bobby Bland, Lightnin’ Hopkins, Jimmy Reed, When you hear those guys, you know they were advanced, almost other worldly.”
“The element of flow is key to finding one’s way. Sometimes, it’s the empty spaces between phrases that are as mesmerizing as anything else.”

Happy 64th birthday to Brian Setzer! 🥃
"I always joke and I always say, “Shoot, I chose the wrong style of music. If I had chosen heavy metal or hard rock, I’d be living on a beach somewhere.” (laughs) I had to do it the hard way. You choose the style that nobody even knew existed. But that’s me. You know, I couldn’t go against myself. When I chose it, or it chose me, was in the late ’70s. It’s a funny thing about rockabilly music. People become obsessed with it, especially in Europe or if you ever been to Viva Las Vegas (festivals). It’s not just about wearing ’50s clothes or driving around in an old car. People become obsessed with the music. I don’t see it with other kinds of music. People are at a festival and they’re throwing a beach ball, and they got a b**r helmet on and the music is background. Not with rockabilly. People become obsessed with this music. It’s sexy. It gives you a kick. It has great musicianship. There’s a simplicity of it. It just has the right ingredients."

Jeff Beck:

"When I saw Stevie on the Guitar Shop Tour in '89 or '90 he was completely cleaned up, playing better than ever. I was just amazed; he could make me rediscover the blues every night. He showed me some fantastic photos of his heroes, like Howlin' Wolf. There was complete respect for them, but there was also deep comedy in those pictures. I think the funniest was a picture of Howlin' Wolf sitting in a speedboat in a driveway outside his house. Stevie carried these around, and once he had made a few dollars he bought an air conditioning unit and had his picture taken by the air conditioning unit as a kind of status symbol. He thought that was the greatest thing. He was well-loved. Stevie's the American apple pie blues guitarist par excellence. He's American and a southern boy; he had all the credentials to be top of the heap, and he was".
