I always enjoy working on different drums especially those that are made by hand by independent artisans like MANANA.

Our customer here in Georgia requested a greater collar height to avoid injury, and that we preserve the original heads. It's always a good idea to have spares if needed.

We upgraded the flesh hoops and skins on this set. Manito fabricated new 3/16" 304 stainless steel flesh hoops. I mounted 1mm steer on the macho and 1.6mm steer on the hembra. This combination produces a contrast between the bright resonant crack of the macho and deep throaty punch of the hembra.

We recently upgraded the flesh hoop and skin on the hembra of these JCR bongos for a customer in Indiana. She requested a slightly brighter and more resonant sound to compliment the very bright and resonant sound of x-ray material on the macho. I mounted a 1.4mm horse skin with a 3/16" round 304 stainless steel flesh hoop.

It has been an incredible honor to serve our drumming community over the past seven years at Manito Percussion. I’ve learned so much from this journey—both from Manito and from all of you.

Manito Percussion is truly a unique place, where creativity meets science, innovation, and strong relationships. I’ve had the privilege of working alongside my best friend and have made lasting connections with friends across the globe. For that, I am deeply grateful.

While this professional transition—stepping away from Manito and the music industry—is certainly bittersweet, I’m excited to return to another passion of mine: the restaurant industry.

I have every confidence that Manito will continue to serve our drumming community with the same dedication, top-tier customer service, and exceptional quality that have made it so special.
