🧀 Happy National Cheese Day to everyone whose trail diet is just a brick of cheddar, regret, and pure protein-fueled delusion.
That block has been sweating in your food bag for four days. It has bonded to your spare socks. It has a name now. It has SEEN things.
And honestly? That’s on you. If you’re going cheddar, you eat the whole block. Day one. Fresh. Cabot Seriously Sharp and zero regrets. You do not ration it. You do not “save it for later.” There is no later. There is only the trail and the cheese.
A 5-year aged gouda would have been fine. Low moisture, hard rind, practically indestructible. Days. Weeks. That gouda will outlast your will to hike. It will still be perfect on day ten when you’ve completely lost your mind and are talking to a marmot.
Meanwhile your JRB quilt has kept you lofty, dry, and emotionally stable through all of it. One of you is aging gracefully. It’s not the cheddar.
We make the quilt. You make the questionable snack choices. We love you. You’re also kind of disgusting. 🏔️
Cheese Better. Adventure Better.
