I spent a good portion of this morning getting very well acquainted with my seam ripper. 😂 Apparently, we had some things to discuss.

I’m going to see if I can finish this Quilt of Valor today. I’m getting excited because I cannot wait to get the next project up on my wall!

There’s just something so satisfying about watching all those individual pieces come together into something special. ❤️🧵

My seam ripper and I got far too well acquainted this morning. 😂

I was working on a Quilt of Valor and, well… let’s just say things did not go exactly according to plan. Sometimes quilting is less “look at this beautiful progress!” and more “how did I get HERE and how fast can I undo it?” 🤦‍♀️🧵

Thankfully, my oldest daughter came to my rescue and saved me from myself with a much-needed trip to the mall. Because sometimes the best quilting solution is apparently… shopping. 😂🛍️

Back to the sewing table soon. The Quilt of Valor isn’t going to finish itself! ❤️🤍💙

Today was all about celebrating my oldest daughter turning 23! 🥳💕

After my real job, we headed out for dinner at a local ramen place, then picked up the supplies for her birthday cake. Tomorrow we’ll be making her request: Black Forest cake, a household favorite around here! 🍒🍫🎂

And the birthday fun doesn’t stop there… tomorrow we’re going shopping and hitting Karaoke! 🎤😂

I’m pretty sure 23 deserves a whole weekend of celebrating, don’t you think? ❤️

Is anyone else just a little too excited that it’s finally October?! Because I absolutely am. 😂🧡

October means spooky things, cozy things, cooler mornings, and of course… coffee time!

So today’s coffee is being enjoyed with my Spooky Season mug, a little something sweet, and… 👀

Well… let’s just say something Made by Brandie has officially made its way into my coffee routine. 😉

I’m not saying what it is yet… but I am saying you might want to start paying attention. 😏

Okay… confession time. 😅

I realized tonight that I am petrified of filming my instruction videos. 😂

Not the sewing. Not the cutting. Not putting the kits together.

Apparently, the part that scares me is putting my “terrible acting” out there for everyone to see. 🤦‍♀️😂 The fear of being judged has had me stuck for a little bit, and I finally decided… okay, enough.

So tonight I sewed, took A LOT of very detailed photos, and started putting together the instructions another way.

Because here’s the thing: I don’t want the perfect version of this business to keep me from actually moving forward.

The good news? I can launch once I get the detailed instruction sheet finished! 🎉

And I think I’m going to add a little note asking you all to reach out if there’s ever a step that needs clarification. I’d much rather hear, “Hey Brandie, I’m confused here!” and fix it than let my fear keep me from getting these out into the world.

So… no fancy tutorial video yet. 😂

But there IS progress.

And honestly? I’ll take progress over perfection every single time. ❤️🧵

One step closer to actually revealing the mystery!✨

Lunch break thoughts from someone who really wishes her “real job” was Made by Brandie. 😂

I have a cleaned-up sewing table, and now it’s sitting there waiting for me like, “Okay… what are we doing?”

And honestly, I have OPTIONS. 😂

🎥 Finish the instruction videos
🇺🇸 Work on the Quilt of Valor on my wall
🧵 Keep going on the small group project
📦 Work on packaging
✂️ Make more product
💡 Or… come up with an entirely new design because apparently I don’t have enough things going on already. 🤣

I think I’m going to try really hard to resist the temptation to chase the shiny new idea and actually finish some of the things already in motion.

Because as much as I love dreaming up what Made by Brandie could become, I’m ready to start turning some of those dreams into things that are actually finished, packaged, and ready to go out into the world.

I realized I haven’t given you guys a Made by Brandie update in a few days! Life has been happening over here. 😂

Monday I got to play with my budget a little and tackle the grocery shopping, so that was exciting in a very adulting kind of way. 😂

Tuesday was small group! We decided to cut more white fabric to go along with all of the colored pieces we’ve been making. That way, when we start putting everything together, we’ll have more variety instead of ending up with giant sections of one color. My one sewing friend and I got a LOT cut!

I really love our little group right now, but I’d love to build it up over time. There’s something really special about having more people learn how to sew while also helping make quilts that will go to people experiencing homelessness. I think there’s room for something really meaningful to grow there. ❤️

And completely unrelated to sewing… my daughter made pumpkin stew, and it was REALLY good! 🎃😂

So that’s the catch-up from the Made by Brandie corner. Not every day has been exciting, but little by little, things are moving!

Sunday started at church, and somewhere between everything else, I sat down and set my annual financial goal for Made by Brandie. 🎯

The math says I need roughly 7.5 sales a day to reach it.

Is that a little lofty for where I’m starting? Absolutely. 😂 But if I’m serious about eventually replacing my full-time job income, I figure I might as well shoot beyond the stars, right? 🚀

Then it was back to the actual work. I started working on the instruction sheets for the first batch of kits… only to realize I never actually put the instruction sheets in the packets. 🤦‍♀️😂 So, for this first batch, the instructions will be making their debut in a slightly unconventional way. We’ll call it “creative problem solving.” 😉

My oldest and youngest daughters and I also decided we needed some Halloween inspiration, so we set off to find Spirit Halloween. There is one in Atascocita… it just took us nearly an hour to actually find it. 😂 Our Target stop on the way home wasn’t exactly overflowing with inspiration either, but we did come home with an idea for a new recipe we’re going to try — cooked INSIDE a pumpkin. 🎃👀

So that’s probably Tuesday’s adventure. I’m curious (and slightly nervous) to see how that turns out!

For now, I’m getting back to those instruction sheets… and if I’m lucky, maybe I’ll even get a row or two sewn on this Quilt of Valor tonight.

One Sunday, several projects, and apparently a pumpkin dinner in my future. Just another day of building Made by Brandie. ❤️🧵✨
