A lot of people have been asking for specific locations of the Hume-Bennett Lumber Companies operations. Well, thanks to Thomas Tefft’s contribution we have this map with locations of the various camps, flume, etc. If you want a map with higher resolution you’ll have to buy the book “They Felled the Redwoods.”

Memorial Chapel dedication - 1948.
To Walter’s brother who died at age 18 - Joseph Warkentin.
The chapel was much smaller before they extended it back quite a bit. This shows the actual original dimensions and use of redwood from Camp Seven! And another fun fact: it initially had a fireplace.

A break in the Sanger Log Flume about seven miles below Millwood - 1908.

Breaks were extremely common. Sources note that repairs alone consumed about one million board feet of lumber per year.
