Our Community Outreach team was privileged to attend the grand opening of the PEEK Next Generation after-school tutoring program.

This partnership was introduced to the team by Louisa Grant, the founder and former chair of our Community Outreach Committee.

This program focuses on early intervention and academic support for students. Jennifer Amaya Hernandez and Wendy Amaya Hernandez attended the event by providing snacks, decorating for the event, and meeting and tutoring the students.
We are proud to support initiatives that invest in the next generation and strengthen our communities through education

Voila! Or rather… Viola!

These cool-season bloomers are a garden favorite thanks to their cheerful blooms and incredible ability to thrive when temperatures start to drop. Violas love the cooler weather and can even handle light frost, making them a great choice for adding a pop of color to your garden during the transitional season. With their compact growth habit and colorful blooms, they’re grow well in containers, borders, beds, and just about anywhere that could use a little extra color.

Plant Care:

☀️ Light: Full sun to partial shade.

🌱 Soil: Well-draining, fertile soil; prefers soil that stays consistently moist without becoming waterlogged.

💧 Water: Water regularly to keep soil evenly moist, especially during warmer or dry periods. Avoid letting the soil completely dry out.

🌿 Fertilizer: Feed with a balanced, slow-release fertilizer at planting or use a liquid fertilizer every few weeks during active growth to encourage healthy blooms.

📍 USDA Zones: 3-9

✂️ Maintenance: Remove spent blooms regularly to encourage continued flowering and keep plants looking tidy. Pinch back leggy growth as needed to encourage a fuller, more compact shape. Violas are generally low maintenance and may naturally slow down during periods of extreme heat.

We're sending off summer with one of our favorite pollinator plants! Lantana is the perfect summer staple in our trial garden from spring through late summer, attracting butterflies and bees all day, every day. Last month, our Community Outreach Team partnered with Classroom Central and joined more than 700 volunteers to help local students gear up for a successful school year!
Together, volunteers filled 59,026 backpacks for children across more than 300 schools and districts. We're proud that the backpacks packed by our Metrolina Greenhouse Team were donated to Winterfield Elementary School.
A huge thank you to Dwana Marcy, Cathy Lindsey, Mateo Granizo, Noemi Ragan, Veronica Navarro, Shaun Schoonhoven, and former Outreach Chair Louisa Grant for supporting this incredible cause and helping make a difference for students in our community.

Night Shift Reporting for Duty!

This week we joined our Huntersville night shift for a behind-the-scenes look at everything from production to shipping.

The team showed us how mums and celosia are co-planted to create colorful fall planters and how poinsettias are carefully caged to protect them during handling and delivery.

Thank you to Night Shift Senior Manager Jaden Polk for guiding us through the evening, and to the entire night crew whose teamwork and attention to detail keep our greenhouses operating long after the sun goes down!

Twin, where have you been?
Growers Demi Toro and Daesha Dupree are doubling up for this week’s Grower Pick: Multi-colored Pansies.
Their cheerful mix of pink and yellow blooms caught the attention of Huntersville MX growers. These pansies bring plenty of color to hanging baskets, patio planters, and garden beds throughout the season, and their playful color combinations make each one feel unique.
