Amazon might be cheaper. There. We said it.
But what if, this holiday season, we looked at the cost of something a little differently?
Because the lowest price doesn’t always mean the greatest value.
When the school needs a sponsor, a youth team needs new uniforms, a nonprofit needs a donation or a community event needs support — take a look at the names that show up.
They’re often the same local businesses we’re comparing to an online price that’s a few dollars less.
That’s the part of “shopping local” that doesn’t fit neatly on a price tag.
Your purchase helps employ someone who lives here. It helps keep a storefront open. It helps a business owner continue investing in the same community where you live, work and raise your family.
This isn’t an anti-Amazon post. We shop online, too.
It’s simply a reminder that how we spend our money helps shape the community we get to live in.
So before you automatically click “add to cart” this holiday season, give a local business a chance.
Shop here. Eat here. Gift here.
Because sometimes the question isn’t:
“Can I find it cheaper?”
It’s:
“Where will my dollar matter more?”
