September 24th @6:00 PM.

Our Homecoming game against Westside will be on September 25th @7:00 PM.

We want those who walked our halls and then answered the call to serve our country to lead our parade this year, as we celebrate our Nation’s 250th birthday. We invite any former Shady Spring High School student who served our country to participate.

The September 11th attacks marked the beginning of a new era of military service—and with it, a renewed commitment from VA to support transitioning Service members, Veterans, their families, and survivors.

The VA Liaison and Post 9/11 Military2VA Case Management Programs were born from that commitment, ensuring Service members and Veterans have seamless access to VA health care and services they have earned.

On this 25th Anniversary, we honor our history, our mission, and the Service members and Veterans who inspire our work. This commemoration is an opportunity for all involved to reflect on the significance of September 11th, celebrate the progress made in supporting Service members and Veterans and reaffirm the dedication to those who continue to serve and sacrifice.

Today, we honor the nearly 3,000 lives lost on September 11, 2001, and the heroes who ran toward danger to save others.
We remember their courage.
We honor their sacrifice.
We will never forget.

🇺🇸 **SEPTEMBER 11, 2001 — 7:46 AM CENTRAL TIME**
**8:46 AM in New York City**

**American Airlines Flight 11 Strikes the North Tower**

Twenty-five years ago, at this moment, the attacks of September 11 began.

At 8:46 AM Eastern Time, hijacked **American Airlines Flight 11**, traveling from Boston to Los Angeles, was deliberately flown into floors 93 through 99 of the **North Tower of the World Trade Center**.

The 76 passengers and 11 crew members aboard the aircraft were killed, along with hundreds of people inside the tower.

For Americans watching the first images from New York, there was confusion. Many initially believed they were witnessing a terrible aviation accident.

Within 17 minutes, that understanding would change forever.

Today, at this exact moment 25 years later, the **VFW Department of Alabama** pauses with our nation to remember those aboard Flight 11 and those in the North Tower whose lives were taken.

We also remember the first responders who, even as thousands began evacuating, were already answering the call and moving toward danger.

**At 7:46 AM Central Time, we pause.**

Remember their lives.
Remember their families.
Remember the courage of those who responded.
