Today is one of those days where my heart is both full and heavy.
Joe and I are on our way to visit my Granddaddy. As many of you know, dementia has been taking pieces of him away, and I honestly don't know what to expect when we walk through those doors. I don't know if he'll recognize me, remember my name, or know the stories we've shared throughout my life.
I've packed some old photographs and a lifetime of memories. If the photos help spark a smile, that's wonderful. If they don't, that's okay too. Sometimes the greatest gift we can give is simply our presence, a listening ear, and a hand to hold.
No matter what he remembers, I will remember. I will remember the man he has always been, the love he has given, and the impact he has had on our family.
Please keep us, and especially my Granddaddy, in your thoughts and prayers today. β€οΈ
