Join us for the 8th Annual St. Symeon Food & Culture Fair! Shop for baked goods and gifts, enjoy hot lunch foods, tour the church, hear the choir, learn about church art and architecture, and more!
Our entire church interior is now entirely covered in floor-to-ceiling iconographic murals, including new iconography filling the narthex. We invite you to tour the church any time throughout the fair.
We'll have three cultural programs inside the church, but we have changed the schedule somewhat: up first is our annual "What is Iconography?" talk by Protodeacon Ephraim Rivers at 10:00 a.m. (a new time this year). Don't miss this talk to learn about the role of sacred art in the church, see key biblical scenes and principles illustrated on the ceilings and walls, and get the tour of the new narthex iconography.
Our second church program is the always highly anticipated choir concert at 11 a.m. This year's concert is titled "Parish Favorites" and will feature some of our best loved hymns from throughout the liturgical year.
Our third church program this year is a talk comparing Orthodox Church architecture to the Jerusalem Temple and discussing the role of the Orthodox temple in Christian worship, by Fr. Phillip Ritchey at 1 p.m. Does the building teach us anything? Spoiler: yes!
Our outdoor tent marketplace features six booths to give you an around-the-world tour of food and hospitality reflecting our ethnically diverse congregation: the Middle Eastern Market; the Balkan Bakery; Babushka's Kitchen; Southern Sweets & Savories; Cafe Europa; and Moana Munchies. The booths will have baked goods and other food items for sale, as well as art and other gifts.
You will not want to miss the Opa! Kabana loukoumades tent! We will be serving up made-to-order Greek honey puffs there (a/k/a Hot Greek Donuts). You can get them in traditional cinnamon or chocolate. They are always a big hit, so come enjoy!
We will again have thousands of homemade pierogi! They'll be available hot, served with onions and sour cream, in our lunch line, where you can also buy German style sandwiches stuffed full of sausage and kraut. Have lunch with us! Frozen pierogi are also available by the dozen.
