One of my favorite things about being an artist and an art store owner? Meeting artists and collecting artwork I know I couldn’t create myself—but absolutely love. 💛

“Beyond the Sunset” by Melissa Holbein, Holbein Creative, is one of those pieces. The color, the texture, the movement of the fabric… it’s fabulous! Now hanging in my studio, it feels like that spot was waiting for it all along.

Today, October 9, is Melissa’s Grand Opening at Lowe Mill, Studio 2005! 🎉 Stop by, celebrate with her, and explore her beautiful work. You might find something your space has been waiting for, too.

Sharing my friend Julie’s Awakening Journal today, because her work—and the person behind it—deserves to be celebrated. 💛

Julie is a local Huntsville artist, illustrator, mom, wonderful friend, and one of the smartest people I know. She is kind, supportive, and someone who makes our art community better simply by being part of it.

One thing that surprised me about the art world was how much jealousy and tearing each other down exist in a space built around creativity. Over the years, I’ve learned to give that negativity less of my attention and bring people like Julie closer.

Because significance lives in the difference we make in someone else’s life. And Julie makes a difference through her art, her heart, her children’s books, her architecture work, and the love she gives her family and friends.

She is all the things I want to celebrate in the art world: skill, intelligence, generosity, and heart.
